In June, thanks to efforts by you and other Oregonians, we got the Legislature to at least acknowledge that temporary and targeted liability protections must be discussed as we work to safely bring employees back to work. Oregon businesses, schools, local government and nonprofits who work diligently to follow all the safety rules that have been issued in this COVID-19 pandemic should not face the threat of frivolous and costly lawsuits as they struggle to get back on their feet.
A legislative group has been looking at the issue, and we are hoping they will send a workable proposal to the Legislature when it meets for another special session later this summer. Help us make sure that happens!!!!
Please contact your legislator and the governor and remind them that targeted and temporary liability protections for businesses, schools, local government and nonprofits must be part of the plan as we work to repair Oregon’s broken economy.
